Startlight Privacy Policy

Startlight is an iOS app, Home Screen widget, and Apple Watch app that displays iRacing race schedules: what series is running now, what is next, countdowns to the next session, and track maps. This Privacy Policy describes how the Startlight app (“Startlight,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information.
Startlight does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. We have designed it to require as little information about you as possible.

Information we do not collect
Section titled “Information we do not collect”Startlight does not:
- Require an account, login, or registration.
- Ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
- Collect your location.
- Use analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting, or tracking software development kits (SDKs).
- Use cookies or advertising identifiers (such as the IDFA).
- Track you across other apps or websites.
- Sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties.
Information stored on your device
Section titled “Information stored on your device”Startlight saves a small number of preferences locally on your device so the app and its widget work the way you set them up. This information stays on your device (including the shared on-device storage used by the Home Screen and Watch widgets) and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. It includes:
- Selected series. The iRacing series you choose to follow.
- Best reaction time. Your best score in the in-app reaction-time mini-game.
- App icon preference. Which app icon you have chosen.
Because this data never leaves your device and is not associated with your identity, it is not “collected” within the meaning of Apple’s App Store privacy guidelines. You can remove all of this information at any time by deleting the app.
How Startlight retrieves race schedules
Section titled “How Startlight retrieves race schedules”To show race schedules and track information, Startlight requests data from a backend proxy server that we operate. That server fetches public iRacing schedule data using our own iRacing credential maintained by the developer. You never log in to iRacing through Startlight, and no iRacing account credentials of yours are requested, used, or stored.
When your device requests schedule data, standard network information (such as your device’s IP address) may be processed transiently by the server and ordinary hosting infrastructure as a normal part of delivering an internet response. This information is not used to identify you, is not combined with any profile, is not sold or shared, and is not used for advertising or tracking.
Third parties
Section titled “Third parties”Startlight does not integrate any third-party advertising networks, analytics providers, or data brokers. We do not share any information with third parties for their own purposes.

Children’s privacy
Section titled “Children’s privacy”Startlight is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no personal data and requires no account, it does not gather information that would be subject to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or similar regulations. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us at paul@denya.dev.
Your rights
Section titled “Your rights”Because Startlight does not collect or store personal data on our servers, we hold no personal data about you to access, correct, export, or delete. All preferences are stored locally on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Section titled “Changes to this Privacy Policy”We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will revise the “Effective date” above and post the updated policy at the same URL where this policy is hosted. Continued use of Startlight after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
