Simagic FX Pro Formula Steering Wheel review: the full-carbon formula rim with a built-in dash

Around $549 on the current Simagic store sale (MSRP ~$759) buys the FX Pro, a full-carbon F1-style rim with a 4.3-inch telemetry screen and a 21-LED rev strip already baked in. The 290mm open-top formula shape carries 12 RGB buttons, 9 encoders, a 7-way switch, magnetic Hall-effect shift paddles, and dedicated dual-clutch paddles, so almost every input maps on the wheel. The catch is the SIMAGIC QR50 quick release: this rim bolts to SIMAGIC bases and nothing else.

Best forSIMAGIC base owners wanting a premium, display-equipped full-carbon F1 wheel with pro-grade controls and dual clutch

A premium full-carbon formula wheel for sim racers already on a SIMAGIC base, or planning to land on one.

Buy it if:

  • You run a SIMAGIC wheelbase (Alpha, Alpha EVO, Alpha Mini) and want a rim that drops straight onto the QR50.
  • You want on-wheel telemetry. The 4.3-inch screen and 21-LED rev strip put live data in front of you without a separate dash.
  • You drive open-wheelers and want a dense control set: 12 RGB buttons, 9 encoders, a 7-way switch, magnetic shift paddles, and dual clutch for standing starts.

Not the one if you’re on a MOZA base (look at the MOZA FSR2) or a Fanatec base (the Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X fits natively).

Full-carbon build. The faceplate is 5mm of carbon fiber over a full carbon body, with ergonomic silicone grips molded into the D-shaped top and bottom. At around 1.7kg it feels like a real formula rim rather than the plastic-and-rubber wheels a tier down, and the 290mm open-top shape keeps your hands fixed at quarter-to-three the way an F1 car does.

Controls everywhere. Behind and around the rim sit 12 RGB push buttons, 5 rotary encoders, 4 thumb encoders, and a 7-way multi-position switch, plus six paddle modules: two magnetic Hall-effect shift paddles, two custom paddles, and dual-clutch paddles. Hall-effect sensing has no contacts to wear, so the shift paddles stay crisp over time, and the dual clutches let you set a bite point for clean launches. The 128 included sticker patterns label every input, and the wheel button mapping guide covers a layout that works.

A built-in dash. The 4.3-inch LCD shows real-time telemetry across multiple sims, and the patented 21-LED soft-glow strip flashes the upshift point and rev range. Button and RPM status LEDs round it out, so you read the car from the wheel rather than alt-tabbing to a PC window.

  • SIMAGIC-only mounting. The QR50 locks it to the SIMAGIC ecosystem. There’s no advertised cross-brand mount and no own-USB universal mode, so it only earns its price if you run or plan to run a SIMAGIC base. For other paths see quick-release and rim compatibility.
  • Dense and heavy. At around 1.7kg it’s a feature-packed rim, and that mass is rotational, so it adds inertia the base has to drive. Lighter formula rims spin up faster on the same motor.
  • Premium even on sale. The ~$549 sale price sits well above mid-range formula wheels, and MSRP is ~$759. You’re paying for the carbon, the screen, and the control count.
  • No standalone PC mode. The FX Pro does nothing without a SIMAGIC base attached. Budget for the base if you don’t already own one; the buying guide by budget shows where it fits.
  • MOZA FSR2: ~$649 full-carbon formula wheel with a 4.3-inch touchscreen and dual clutch, the equivalent pick if you’re on a MOZA base.
  • Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X: ~$390 formula wheel for Fanatec bases, a step cheaper with an OLED dash rather than a full screen.
  • Ascher Racing F28-SC V2: ~$779 formula wheel with magnetic shifters and broad base compatibility, if you want cross-brand fit and to spend up.
  • Simagic GT Neo: ~$289 round GT wheel on the same SIMAGIC ecosystem, if you mostly race GT3 and want the round hand position.

If you’re not yet on a SIMAGIC base, pair the FX Pro with an Alpha EVO Sport or another SIMAGIC base first, because the base sets how the car feels in your hands. The quick-release and rim compatibility guide covers fitting a rim to a base you already own.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Simagic FX Pro fit any wheelbase?

No. It uses the SIMAGIC QR50 50mm quick release and is effectively SIMAGIC-only: it pairs with Alpha, Alpha EVO, Alpha Mini, and other SIMAGIC bases. There's no advertised cross-brand mount or standalone USB-direct PC mode, so it only makes sense if you run, or plan to run, a SIMAGIC base. For cross-brand fit see quick-release and rim compatibility.

What controls are on the FX Pro?

12 customizable RGB push buttons, 5 rotary encoders, 4 thumb encoders, a 7-way multi-position switch, and 6 paddle modules: 2 magnetic Hall-effect shift paddles, 2 custom paddles, and dual-clutch paddles. It ships with 128 button-cap sticker patterns so you can label every input. The wheel button mapping guide covers a sane layout.

Simagic FX Pro or MOZA FSR2?

Pick by base. The FX Pro mounts on SIMAGIC bases only; the MOZA FSR2 (~$649) is the MOZA-ecosystem equivalent. Both are full-carbon formula wheels with a 4.3-inch screen and dual clutch, so match the wheel to the base you already own.

Does the FX Pro really have a built-in screen?

Yes. A 4.3-inch LCD shows real-time telemetry for multiple sims, backed by a patented 21-LED soft-glow RPM/shift strip. That makes it a standalone formula wheel rather than a bare rim that needs a separate dash.
