MOZA steering wheels: 13 rims, one quick release, and a chart that disagrees with the listings
Researched overview Manufacturer listings and owner reports, with no hands-on testing.
MOZA’s US store listed 13 steering wheels on 2 August 2026, from the $139.00 ESX to the $1,299.00 Porsche Mission R, and all 13 mount on the same fitting. MOZA publishes no generation for it. The spec row is called “Release Method”, and on eight of the 13 listings its value names a material rather than a version: six read “All-aluminum quick release”, the GS V2P reads “All-aluminum MOZA quick release”, and the Revuelto reads “Aluminum alloy quick release”. Four read “MOZA Quick Release” and one reads “Quick release”. What decides which base a MOZA wheel runs on is the signal behind the fitting, a wired conductive slip ring against the older wireless system, and MOZA’s own compatibility chart puts that in its column headings rather than in its ticks.
Every price, spec row, and quotation below was read on 2 August 2026 off MOZA’s US store and its support article “MOZA Racing Products Compatibility”. Prices are regular figures; where a listing showed a lower current price that day, both are in the table.
Thirteen wheels, $139.00 to $1,299.00

Sizes are each listing’s own size row, which is not the same row on every listing: eight use “Size”, three use “Dimensions”, two use “Wheel Size”, and the Essenza SCV12 gives three figures rather than a diameter.

Four listings cross out a price against itself. The KS Pro, CS Pro, FSR2, and Porsche Mission R each carry a compare-at figure equal to the price it is crossed out against, so no discount stands on any of them and the regular price is the price. The Revuelto and the Essenza SCV12 carry no compare-at figure at all. The other seven showed a real reduction that day, from $10.00 off the ESX to $70.00 off the RS V2 and the TSW Truck Wheel.
The ES Wheel ships only in a bundle. MOZA’s compatibility chart carries an “ES Wheel” row, and no es-wheel URL exists among the 112 product URLs in MOZA’s US product sitemap. The wheel ships inside a bundle: the contents list on MOZA R3 Racing Wheel and Pedals for PC, $299.00 regular and $279.00 that day, runs “R3 Direct Drive Wheelbase”, “MOZA ES Steering Wheel”, “SR-P Lite Pedals”, and “Table clamp mounting kit”. One quick release, described by its material and never by a version
Section titled “One quick release, described by its material and never by a version”Nothing in the 13 listings versions the fitting. There is no MOZA equivalent of Fanatec’s QR1 and QR2, no letter, and no year. What varies is the wording, and the second thing each listing says about how the wheel talks to the base.

Ten of the 13 name aluminum. Eight say it in the release row itself, the RS V2 and the Essenza SCV12 say it in a second row beside that one, and the ESX and the CS V2P say “all-metal quick release” in their feature copy without a spec row for it. The KS is the exception: “aluminum” appears twice on its whole listing and both hits are its paddles, “Durable anodized aluminum paddles” in the feature copy and “Paddle Material: Aluminum alloy” in the specs. Its quick release gets no material at all.
Seven listings state no connection method. The six that do carry five distinct values under three different row labels, “Communication Method”, “Communication Methods”, and “Signal Transmission”. Five of the six name a conductive slip ring, in four phrasings, and the sixth is the TSW Truck Wheel’s “Wireless and wired”.
That row is not the only wireless claim in the lineup. The Vision GS states “Communication Methods: Via conductive slip ring” in its spec block and then answers its own FAQ “Is the Vision GS compatible with third-party wheel bases?” with “Yes. The Vision GS supports both wireless and wired communication”, and MOZA’s separate overview page for that wheel heads a block “Wireless & Conductive Slip Ring” and reads “The steering wheel communication supports both wireless and conductive slip ring modes meaning full compatibility with all MOZA bases.” So one wheel gets a wired row and two prose surfaces saying both, and MOZA reconciles them nowhere. The FSR2 makes the same cut the other way around: its listing carries no connection row at all, and MOZA’s overview page for it adds one, “Communication Methods: Wireless or via conductive slip ring”. On both wheels the second page is the one that says wireless. It matters because of the paragraph below: the two wheels that refuse the V1 bases refuse them for using the older wireless system, and a wheel that kept a wireless mode would sit on the other side of that line. No MOZA page read here says either of these two does.
The slip ring is the dividing line. Two listings spell it out, in the same words with the model name swapped. MOZA answers “Is the GS V2P compatible with all MOZA bases?” by naming eight bases with “wired (conductive slip ring) support”, then stating that the wheel is “not compatible” with “older MOZA wireless bases including:” the R9 V1, R16 V1, and R21 V1, because “These models use the older wireless transmission system and do not support the GS V2P’s wired conductive connection.” The CS V2P listing answers “Is the CS V2P compatible with all MOZA wheelbases?” with the same eleven base names in the same order and its own model name in that closing sentence. The KS makes the same cut in one clause and lists nothing: “While optimized for all MOZA non-wireless wheelbases via the quick release system”.
One listing contradicts itself on that point. The CS V2P page carries both the wired-conductive answer above and a second FAQ that reads “No. Thanks to MOZA’s Invisible Connect wireless technology, no extra cables are needed when paired with a MOZA wheelbase.” Both are on the same page, and the second is MOZA’s answer to whether a separate cable is needed rather than to which bases fit.
Two adapters sit on either side of the fitting. The MOZA Universal Hub Kit, $59.00 regular and $39.00 that day, takes a MOZA wheel to a base that is not MOZA, and its box holds a “Wheelbase Mount Adapter” that MOZA describes as having “three 50mm and six 70mm threaded hole patterns”. The MOZA 70mm Quick Release Adapter, $59.00 regular and $49.00 that day, goes the other way, and its own listing caps what that buys: “Compatibility: All MOZA Bases (Only steering function is supported when using with third-party wheels)”. That is the standard result described in rims and quick-releases: the bolt circle passes torque and the data link is what a generic adapter drops.
The compatibility chart ticks every wheel against every base column
Section titled “The compatibility chart ticks every wheel against every base column”MOZA’s support article “MOZA Racing Products Compatibility” is a single HTML table, 34 rows deep. One is the column header, five are section headings (Wheels, Pedals, Digital Dashes, Shifters & Handbrakes, Accessories), and 28 are products. Eight base columns across 28 product rows is 224 cells, and 216 of them carry a tick. The other eight are one row, the Multi-function Stalk, which carries the tilde in all eight columns.
Its legend defines both marks:
- ✓ means “Can be connected directly to the wheelbase.”
- ~ means “Can only be connected to a PC via USB; cannot be connected to the wheelbase.”
The Wheels section holds 15 of the 28 rows, which is 120 cells, and every one of them is a tick. No wheel in the chart is refused by any base in it.
The exclusion lives in the headings. Each column is written on two lines, and three of the eight qualify the revision they cover:

So the three bases the CS V2P and GS V2P listings refuse by name, the R9 V1, R16 V1, and R21 V1, are the three the chart either has no column for or admits only from 2023 onward. The chart and those two listings agree; they say it in different places.
Where the chart and the listings disagree
Section titled “Where the chart and the listings disagree”Three places, and in the first two the chart is broader than the product’s own page.
The ESX. The chart ticks it under all eight columns. Its own listing answers “Is the ESX compatible with all MOZA bases?” with a shorter and hedged list: “Yes, the ESX is fully compatible with mostly MOZA wheelbases, including the R3, R5, R9, R16, and R21.” No R12 and no R25 Ultra appear in it, “mostly” is MOZA’s own word, and the sentence sends the reader to the chart for the rest. The ESX review follows that listing.
The R12 V1, twice. The chart’s fourth column is “R12 V1/V2” and it ticks both the GS V2P and the CS V2P. Each of those two listings names “R12 V2” in its list of wired bases and names no R12 in its list of refused wireless ones, so the R12 V1 is ticked by the chart and absent from both lists on the wheel’s own page.
What “all MOZA wheelbases” covers. Nine listings answer compatibility with a phrase rather than a list, and the phrase is not the same phrase. Four say “all MOZA wheelbases currently on sale”, four say “all MOZA wheelbases” or “all MOZA bases” with no time qualifier, and the KS says “All MOZA wheelbases and 3rd party wheelbases”. A base MOZA no longer sells is inside one wording and outside the other, and no listing says which bases are on sale.
What the chart does not cover
Section titled “What the chart does not cover”A wheel MOZA is selling. The Revuelto Sim-Racing Steering Wheel has been listed since 26 March 2026 by its own store record and has no row in the chart. The chart’s note reads “Products marked with (EOL) are End-of-Life. Products not shown in this chart are no longer supported.”, which applied literally makes a current $399.00 product unsupported. The article’s own date line, “Modified on Mon, 1 Jun at 5:48 PM”, carries no year.
A base MOZA is selling. MOZA’s US wheel-base collection held five bases that day: the R25 Ultra at $899.00, the R21 Ultra at $699.00, the R16 Ultra at $529.00, the R12 V2 at $469.00 regular, and the R9 V3 at $349.00 regular. The R16 Ultra has been listed since 28 July 2026 and the chart has no column for it. Its nearest column, “R16 V1(2023 later)/V2”, names two earlier revisions.
Two rows with no US listing. Beside the ES Wheel above, the chart carries a “CS V2 Wheel” row distinct from its “CS V2P Wheel” row, and no cs-v2-wheel URL is among the 112 product URLs in MOZA’s US product sitemap. A third row, “FSR Wheel (EOL)”, is labeled by the chart itself.
What this means when you are buying
Section titled “What this means when you are buying”The listing answers for one wheel. The chart answers for the lineup. Where the two are not the same width, the listing is the surface MOZA maintains per product. Three listings name individual bases at all: the GS V2P and the CS V2P, whose lists are complete in both directions, and the ESX, whose list is five base names and the word “mostly”.
The V1 wireless bases are the only refusal. Nothing else in MOZA’s own material says no. If your base is an R9 V1, an R16 V1 from before 2023, or an R21 V1 from before 2023, two wheels say outright that they will not run on it, and the chart gives you no column to check the other 11 against. Every base the chart does have a column for, R3 through R25 Ultra, takes all 15 wheels in it. The R16 Ultra is the current base with no column of its own.
The mount is constant at every price. The fitting is the same at $139.00 and at $1,299.00. What separates the ends of the range is the display, the input count, and the licensing: the $139.00 ESX has “10 RGB LEDs” and an Xbox license, the $649.00 FSR2 has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, and the $1,299.00 Porsche Mission R has a 5.4-inch flexible OLED behind tempered glass. Steering wheels sorts the whole market by rim shape instead of by brand.

Will any MOZA wheel work on any MOZA base?
On MOZA's own compatibility chart, yes for every base the chart has a column for. All 15 wheel rows carry a tick under all 8 base columns, which is 120 cells with no exception in them, and the legend reads "Can be connected directly to the wheelbase." The exclusion is in the column headings rather than in the ticks: there is no R9 V1 column, and the R16 and R21 V1 columns are qualified "V1(2023 later)". Two listings say the same thing in words. The GS V2P and the CS V2P are each "not compatible" with "older MOZA wireless bases including:" the R9 V1, R16 V1, and R21 V1.
What quick-release generations does MOZA have?
MOZA publishes none. No listing among the 13 carries a version number, a letter, or a generation name for its quick release, the way Fanatec's QR1 and QR2 do. The spec row is "Release Method", and on 8 of the 13 its value names a material rather than a version, in three different wordings: six read "All-aluminum quick release", the GS V2P reads "All-aluminum MOZA quick release", and the Revuelto reads "Aluminum alloy quick release". Four read "MOZA Quick Release", and the Essenza SCV12 reads "Quick release" with a separate "Quick Release Material: Aluminum alloy" row. Can I put a MOZA wheel on a Fanatec or Simucube base?
Through a second purchase, and 9 of the 13 listings say so. Each names the part differently: "the MOZA hub kit", "MOZA hub", "MOZA Universal Hub Kit", and "MOZA universal adapter". The product is the MOZA Universal Hub Kit at $59.00 regular and $39.00 on 2 August 2026, and its own listing names four wheels among what it supports: "The hub supports KS Wheels, FSR2 Formula Wheel, MOZA Vision GS Wheel, MOZA TSW Truck Wheel, SRP Lite Pedals, and other MOZA ecosystem products." Four wheel listings raise no third-party route in their specs or their FAQs: the ESX, the CS V2P, the GS V2P, and the RS V2, and on the RS V2 the only mention anywhere is the page's own metadata.
Which MOZA wheel reaches an Xbox?
One of the 13 states a platform at all. The MOZA ESX spec block reads "Platforms: PC & Xbox", and the other 12 listings carry no platform row. MOZA's Wheel Base FAQs put the reason on the wheel rather than the base: "Without an Xbox-licensed wheel or bundle, the base itself cannot operate on Xbox consoles." No MOZA wheel listing names a PlayStation.
Is the MOZA compatibility chart current?
It is dated but not fully. The article states "Modified on Mon, 1 Jun at 5:48 PM" and names no year. Two products MOZA sells today are missing from it: the Revuelto wheel, listed since 26 March 2026, has no row, and the R16 Ultra base, listed since 28 July 2026, has no column. Read against the chart's own note, "Products not shown in this chart are no longer supported", a wheel MOZA is currently selling would be unsupported, which is why the wheel's own listing is the better source for its own compatibility.
