iRacing dirt racing: sprint cars, late models & dirt road

iRacing runs 35 dirt series across two disciplines. Dirt oval is sprint cars, modifieds, late models, and midgets turning left on clay. Dirt road is off-road trucks and rallycross on point-to-point and mixed-surface tracks.

Almost all of them race on a short loop, every 30 or 60 minutes, so there’s nearly always a session about to go green and the per-series countdown is all you need.

The headline cars are the winged sprint cars. The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series runs the Dirt Sprint Car - 410 at Class A, the top rung.

Displacement steps down from there. The DIRTcar 360 Sprint Car Series (Class C) and the DIRTcar 305 Sprint Car Series by Fanatec (Class C) make less horsepower and more grip relative to power, which makes them the right place to learn slide jobs without spinning every corner. The non-winged AMSOIL USAC Sprint Car is the hardest of the group.

For fendered cars, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (Class A) and DIRTcar Pro Late Model Series (Class C) carry the late models. The DIRTcar UMP Modified Series (Class A) and DIRTcar 358 Modified Series run the open-wheel-over-fender modifieds.

Drivers new to dirt should start at the Dirt Mini Stock Rookie Series.

Two dirt-oval series break the short-loop pattern: the Dirt 410 Sprint Car Tour and the Dirt Super Late Model Tour, both Class C. They run at fixed calendar times rather than every hour, so there isn’t always one coming up.

The listed start time is in UTC. Read it as your own clock and you’ll miss the green, so each tour page converts every upcoming session to your local time before you register.

Dirt road is trucks and door-to-door rallycross. Start at the Pro 2 Lite Off-Road Rookie Series, then move to the Rallycross Series (Class A) for the mixed-surface, joker-lap format.

Frequently asked questions

Which dirt series should a beginner start with?

Begin in the Class D / Rookie ladder. The Dirt Mini Stock Rookie Series and DIRTcar Street Stock Rookie run on a short loop with forgiving cars, so you build a dirt license while there's almost always a session about to start. Move up to the 305 and 360 Sprint Car series once you hold a C license.

Why do the Dirt 410 Sprint Car Tour and Super Late Model Tour need a timezone check?

Both are scheduled tours: they run at fixed calendar times rather than on a 30- or 60-minute repeat. Read the listed time as your own clock and you'll miss the green flag, so the per-series page converts each session to your local time.
